{"id":21,"date":"2015-11-19T00:33:50","date_gmt":"2015-11-19T00:33:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ozuzudances.com\/?page_id=21"},"modified":"2025-04-14T00:12:15","modified_gmt":"2025-04-14T00:12:15","slug":"home","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ozuzudances.com\/","title":{"rendered":"HOME"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\">I am a dance artist working at the intersections of ritual, club, concert, and experimental movement practice.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">My work emerges from decades of immersion in contemporary dance alongside deep study and lived experience in West African dance and drumming, martial arts, yoga, Salsa, and House dance. It\u2019s shaped by improvisation and by intentional collisions between forms\u2014rooted in the body\u2019s capacity to carry culture, channel spirit, and generate change. I was initiated into this path dancing in the works of Nia Love, shaped by Viewpoints and improvisation with Barbara Dilley, and grounded in the physical logic of Bartinieff fundamentals with Jackie Villamil. My training stretches across continents and communities\u2014from studying drumming in Senegal to dancing in clubs and school gyms, from kitchen tables to international stages.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">I believe in the body as a technology\u2014a living system that senses, remembers, and connects.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Through movement, we can locate ourselves in a lineage, in a moment, and in a shared future. The body becomes a lens, a tether, a way to see and feel the interdependent nature of our world.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0My work meets this emerging moment with a steady belief in our shared humanity.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0I draw from tradition while refusing stasis\u2014continually reimagining how we move together, how we build space for presence, and how performance can function as both ritual and reckoning. My practice is not about surface.
